How has Impact Platform helped employees at your company? We’ve designed a simple learner survey to help you gauge Impact Platform’s impact.
This survey can help you:
- Get a general sense of how often employees engage with Impact Platform
- Learn more about how Impact Platform is (or is not) helping people
- See how employees view Impact Platform compared to other professional development resources offered at your organization
- Use the qualitative answers to create value stories to share with internal stakeholders
1. Download the Impact Platform survey template.
Cut and paste the questions in this Impact Platform survey template into your preferred survey tool. If you don’t have one (and don’t have access to survey experts in your organization), check out SurveyMonkey, Alchemer, or Google Forms.
2. Encourage participation from your employees.
Here are just a few things to consider:
- Survey promotion and incentives. What’s in it for employees? If you’re able to articulate the benefits, people will be more motivated to take the survey. You could consider a small incentive (like a chance to win a gift card), but incentives could introduce biases in the data.
- Ensuring anonymity. People may be less than honest in their answers if they fear repercussions or think their answers could benefit them. To encourage honesty, communicate that results are anonymous and don’t require identifiable information like a name and email.
3. Share your results with us!
We value your partnership and encourage you to share anonymous results with your Implementation Strategist and/or Client Partner. Your results will help us compile benchmarking data (so you can compare your results to our average) as well as improve the Impact Platform product.
4. Understand survey limitations — and present results responsibly.
A response rate below 60 percent will likely bias results. While you can still report low-response data to stakeholders, be honest about your response rate and be careful not to oversell the results.
You don’t need to be a statistician to analyze your survey results and gain insights. Just include the following in your report to stakeholders:
- Response rate as a percentage. This is the number of respondents divided by the number invited to take the survey.
- Frequency distributions on key answers. We use percentages unless the response rate is low (below 60 percent); in that case, we use the actual number of people who responded with a given answer.
Examples: 50% of respondents read the Impact Platform newsletter at least once per month. And two out of three executives say Impact Platform is helpful.
- Segment comparisons. If you have only a few respondents in a segment, list the actual number of people in order to compare segments.
Example: 90% of first-level managers found Impact Platform useful when learning new ideas, while 7 out of 10 executives found Impact Platform useful when providing performance support for their teams.
- Open-ended answers. The richness of qualitative feedback can be more powerful and actionable than numbers, especially when creating impact stories. Want even more? Consider adding an optional question where employees can insert their email if they want to talk more about their experiences.
