Application Challenges FAQs

You will participate in Application Challenges during Impact Platform courses to reinforce your learning and create lasting behavior change. You can review the following Application Challenges FAQs to better understand their purpose.

What is the goal of an Application Challenge?

Application Challenges allow you to apply what you've learned during your sessions to your own life to create behavior change. You translate concepts into concrete actions through 2-4 text prompts by applying course concepts or taking session content to the next level. 

When do the Application Challenges take place? 

An Application Challenge is associated with each session of a Facilitated Course. When and how the challenges are completed depends on if your delivery is spaced or concentrated: 

1. 1. Spaced Facilitated Courses: You will complete a challenge each time you meet.

   2. Concentrated Facilitated Courses: You will only complete the challenge associated with the final session during the course delivery to avoid making too many commitments quickly. The remaining challenges will then be provided to you via reinforcement emails. 

*OnDemand Courses: You will complete challenges as they are assigned throughout the course.

How long does an Application Challenge take?

In Session Challenges

You will spend about five minutes responding to the platform's prompts during challenges in your in-person session. The prompts help you create a plan; putting that plan into action requires 10-20 minutes of work outside the session. The Application Challenges also include reminders and accountability partner messages because you will work on them outside of the session.

Post Session and OnDemand Challenges

Challenges accessed by the reinforcement emails or OnDemand assignments are completed entirely outside facilitated sessions. 

Are Application Challenges mandatory?

While not mandatory, we highly recommend all participants complete Application Challenges to optimize their learning. 

What is the format of an Application Challenge?

Share Your Plan Choose accountability buddies to hold you accountable for following through on this plan. For Facilitated Courses, Additionally, you will also select whether or not to publish the challenge to the Challenge Board for the other members in the course to view.

 

Who can I choose as my accountability buddies?

You may choose anyone as your accountability buddy – someone you requested feedback from, someone in your cohort, or even add someone new. You are also not required to select an accountability buddy.

How many accountability buddies should I choose for my application challenge?

Select 1-3 people who would be willing to check in with you and hold you accountable. We’ll email them to provide context so they can help keep you on track to reach your goals.

When I choose to share my submission with my cohort or an accountability buddy, do they have visibility into what I wrote?

Yes, your application challenge plan is shared verbatim with those in your Facilitated Course (if you choose to publish your challenge to the Challenge Board) and/or accountability buddy.

For Facilitated Courses on the Impact Platform, you can visit the "Cohort Challenge Board" to view the application challenges that other learners in your course have submitted. Those with a lock icon next to them indicate that the learner chose to keep theirs private to the other members of the course.
